Recycling Old Cell Phones

Nearly every client I’ve worked with has old cell phones tucked in a drawer.  When I offer to recycle them, they usually jump at the chance to get rid of them.

Recycling your cell phone is easier than you think.

Many retailers will accept them back for recycling at no charge.  Best Buy, Staples, Radio Shack, Office Depot, and Lowe’s are among them.

Cell phone service providers in New York State are required by law to accept old phones for recycling at no cost, regardless of manufacturer or service provider.

If you want to try and get money for the phone, or want to make sure that your recycled phone is used for charitable purchase, see the list of sites and programs on the NYC government web site.  http://on.nyc.gov/1035mNL

Don’t forget to delete your personal information off the phone first.
